We are looking for an Officer, Technician Warehouseto be responsible for supplying parts promptly and accurately to warehouse customers to ensure minimal disruption of mining operations. This role is a great opportunity to develop a working knowledge of an Enterprise Asset Management System in a cultural environment focusing on safety and develop strong planning, organizational, management and communications skills as well as key relationships.

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor and located in Lac de Gras, you will be working on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off at the Diavik mine site. You will be responsible for:

  • Responding to warehouse supply enquiries and issue inventory requested parts entering details of all transactions (parts and shipping) into SAP ERP.
  • Receiving goods (on-site receipt) and transactions entry into SAP ERP and put them away respectively into their appropriate bin locations.
  • Counting stock/inventory within time specified by the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Establishing priorities to be shipped from the warehouse daily, under direction of Superintendent and preparing shipment (stock management)
  • Maintaining all Diavik Materials Department storage facilities in an organized and safe condition attending to hazards, and other unsafe conditions immediately upon discovery.
  • Operate forklifts, light vehicles, and heavy equipment to conduct internal deliveries across the mine site.
  • Offload incoming freight in the main warehouse using electric forklifts.
  • Create delivery logs to ensure site-wide internal deliveries are recorded and tracked.
  • Processes inventory returns from stakeholders, verifies the materials, and received back into SAP.
  • Maintain orderly work areas and ensure housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Comply with safety policies and applicable government, or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Update and maintain the warehouse bin location systems.

What you’ll bring

To be considered for this role, you will have: 

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Strong safety mindset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Minimum 5 years’ industrial warehouse setting experience in a parts environment using computerized and inventory control systems.
  • Minimum 2 years’ working with SAP in materials management/logistics/ modules.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience operating an electric forklift, diesel forklift and loader is required.
  • Proven ability to operate a range of warehouse equipment safely.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently in a result-oriented environment.
  • A team player that works well with others and can work independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the DDMI Participation Agreement Groups and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Territories.
