Senior Accountant (Quinte West, ON)

The Senior Accountant, reporting to the Financial Controller, ensures compliance with Company and IFRS guidelines in all accounting transactions. This role involves collaborating with the Controller to gather and analyze necessary data for accurate and timely financial summaries/statements on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for the Belleville operation. Additionally, the Senior Accountant handles specialized accounting and production projects as required.

Responsibilities:

Analyze and recommend timely and accurate account and bank reconciliation for monthly general ledger accounts.

Reconcile General Ledger accounts, provide information and suggestions for necessary actions, and maintain accurate standard costing files.

Maintain the Capital Assets sub ledger, track and report on all capital asset projects for review by the Controller and Management.

Prepare standard and ad hoc Management reports for review by the Controller and/or SC Management as needed.

Ensure precise recording of raw material receipt and conduct daily and weekly inventory reconciliation.

Process cash receipts, reconcile Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable sub ledgers.

Assist the Controller with general accounting functions and provide guidance to junior Accounting group staff.

Required Skills and Competencies:

College diploma or University degree in business or accounting, with 5 years of relevant accounting experience. Accounting designation (CMA/CGA/CPA) is would be preferable.

Excellent oral communication and customer service skills, with strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities, particularly in accounting and bookkeeping.

In-depth knowledge of SAGE accounting software.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Internally, interacts with production and accounting staff at all levels. Externally, communicates with Supplier and Customer financial staff for A/R and A/P functions, and collaborates with external audit staff and financial consultants as required.
