We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Corporate Counsel in our corporate legal team within the General Counsel office. We are looking for a business-minded lawyer with 5 or more years of post-qualifying in-house and/or law firm experience to support different lines of businesses within Aviva Canada’s Global Corporate & Specialty group. It is a definite asset if you have demonstrated experience in at least some of the following legal areas: corporate and commercial law, surety, construction, banking, and insurance.

What you’ll do

Utilize, build and grow your skills and experience in a broad range of corporate and commercial matter.

What you’ll bring

• Call to a provincial Canadian bar with a current license.
• 5 or more years of post-qualifying inhouse and/or law firm experience.
• Ability to work autonomously with strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
• Ability to spot, troubleshoot and summarize legal issues and ability to effectively convey recommendations to stakeholders.

Hybrid Working Model
