Job Description - Senior Director Finance

Senior Director Finance Location Toronto, ON : PURPOSE Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Finance is a strategic finance leader who will collaborate with a key member of Villa Colombo Toronto's senior leadership team to develop financial strategies and drive analytics to enable operational decision-making. The Senior Director, Finance will drive long-term planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes for Villa Colombo Toronto and provide detailed monthly reports and analysis directly to the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Governors. The Senior Director, Finance is responsible for delivering important reports, submissions, and business case insights to key stakeholders, such as MLTC. Additionally, the Senior Director of Finance oversees Enterprise Resource Planning platforms from sourcing and evaluation to implementation as we as all Information Technology. Principal Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage the balance sheet to optimize cash flow.
  • Ensure the protection of the organization's financial assets and interests through the design and implementation of systems and procedures within approved policies.
  • Maintain and update internal controls, procedures, and best practices as required.
  • Manage the annual year-end financial and trust audits and communicate with auditors accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the management team to implement and manage the annual budgeting process and provide financial analysis for strategic planning.
  • Develop schedules for the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning.
  • Work with departmental directors/supervisors to implement and maintain the annual capital budget process and requirements.
  • Participate in departmental planning to identify fiscal and human resource needs and ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Provide monthly analysis of results and key ratios.
  • Complete all submissions to MLTC, CCRA, City of Toronto, including funding requests and year-end reports.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and annual reporting packages for management, the Board of Governors, and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Participate in Quality, Risk, and Accreditation processes.
  • Report monthly financial results to the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board and the Board of Governors.
  • Serve as a resource to other Board of Governors Committees as needed.
  • Liaise with external parties, including Community Care Support Services, Ministry of Long-Term Care, auditors, consultants, insurers, and utilities companies.
  • Implement effective purchasing, inventory, and contract management policies and ensure compliance.
  • Lead, motivate, and direct finance personnel, including communicating job expectations, planning, and monitoring activities, coaching, responding to queries, and enforcing standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
