What does a Cleaner do?

A cleaner’s primary responsibility would be to clean and keep the house spotless. Responsibilities include vacuuming the entire house (this involves the carpets as well), cleaning doors, windows, and scrubbing the required areas in the house as and when required. A cleaner also changes the bed sheets and makes the beds. They also are responsible for keeping the house hygienic and disposing of the garbage on time daily. They must possess flexibility, ready to clean additional areas inside or even outside of the house, as and when necessary. Overall, a dedicated, proactive, skilled, and responsible person is required. The cleaner must also be very punctual and should report for work every day in a neat and tidy outfit. If the cleaner knows how to use an automatic vacuum machine or a robotic vacuum pump, that is a plus point.

Responsibilities of a Cleaner

It is expected that a cleaner will perform the following duties:
● Wash and clean the windows and doors of the house every two days. ● Empty the waste bins, ashtrays and dispose of the garbage timely every day. ● Vacuum the entire house from top to bottom daily(this involves cleaning under the furniture) ● Fully scrub and sanitize washrooms and kitchens daily. ● Change bed sheets every three days and make the beds daily ● Dust the furniture and other knick-knacks as and when necessary ● Clean the outside walls of the house and assist in potential heavyweight work before special occasions. ● Keep the washroom and kitchen shelves fully restocked ● While cleaning, pay special attention to the difficult to clean and especially dirty areas in the home
It is to be noted that the interval of these duties is flexible, and may change according to the employer’s requirement.

Requirements of a Cleaner

A cleaner’s preferable qualifications are:
● Completed high school or equivalent ● At least 2 years of experience in cleaning houses or the like ● Basic knowledge of how to use the standard cleaning appliances ● Knowledge of the diverse existing techniques of cleaning ● Proven history of efficient and warm communication ● Must be responsible enough to let the employer know when the cleaner wishes to take a leave for a specific day ● In case of leave, proper reason must be stated to the employer

Keys skills to become a Cleaner
● Excellent communication as well as interpersonal skills ● Flexibility to adapt to changing cleaning requirements and shifts ● Ability to spot dust particles that the human eye can possibly miss. ● Adequate physical stamina ● Can work independently without extra supervision ● Ability to efficiently manage time so as to efficiently and completely fulfill the daily duties.
