Job Description - Simulation Specialist

Specialist | Full-Time | Engineering Vestas Digital Technology Solutions (DTS) is where the digital backbone of Vestas is developed, tested, and improved. To put it simply, DTS is the cornerstone of Vestas, where we create the digital environment and shape the future of energy solutions. The Simulation Development department is a new and rapidly growing team of highly motivated engineers. We are responsible for propelling and defining how we simulate across our wind turbine platforms and modules. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to support the development of high technology simulation tools, methods, and processes for the verification and simulation of turbine components. Your expertise in Modelling and Simulation (M&S) will be crucial in maturing our simulation processes. Digital Solutions & Development > Digital Solutions > Modelling We are looking for a Simulation Specialist who not only understands the intricacies of wind energy simulation but also brings a background in thermo-fluid dynamics as well as system modeling and simulation. As a key contributor to our collaborative team, you are tasked with ensuring that our blend of proprietary and commercial simulation tools integrate smoothly, establishing a cohesive digital thread and comprehensive approach throughout the module development units.   • Undertake and oversee technical tasks related to modelling and simulation to develop cost-efficient design solutions that meet the technical specifications put forth by various departments
  • Lead the advancement of simulation maturity levels within the organization, working closely with internal stakeholders from diverse departments to ensure alignment and integration of simulation processes and outcomes
  • Support the development of automated simulation workflows using a diverse tech stack (like Azure DevOps and Cycle Cloud)
  • Developing the creation and enhancement of methods, tools, and processes to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the modelling and simulation capabilities
  • Establish and enforce the adoption of industry best practices within the context of modelling and simulation, ensuring that all work is conducted to the highest standards of quality and precision
  • Foster a collaborative team spirit, actively engaging and cooperating with team members to collectively attain shared objectives for the team and the broader organization. In this strategic role, you will be a main motivator in advancing the organization's modelling and simulation capabilities
  • Your expertise will contribute to the creation of cost-effective designs, improved internal processes, and the elevation of simulation practices to the highest industry standards. By embracing a collaborative mindset, you will play a central part in achieving the collective goals of the team and the company


Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Energy engineering or equivalent field
  • 4 to 8 years of work experience (incl. PhD/PostDoc)
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics and its tools (e.g., Fluent, OpenFoam, or other)
  • Solid experience with programming languages (Python, Modelica, MATLAB, PowerShell, Bash, ...)
  • Experience with Modelica simulation tools (e.g., OpenModelica, Dymola, or other)


Competencies

 

  • Experience using modelling and simulation systems, Git and Simulink
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Good communication skills in English, as this is our corporate language, Danish is not a prerequisite
  • Collaborative team player
  • Be curious, humble, and excited about learning, ingenious problem solver
