Kuva Space is looking for a few eager summer project interns to assist our Data & Analytics team in image annotation and model training! 

We are currently improving cloud  and ship detection algorithms and are searching for trainees to help  us build this. The work involves image annotation, fine-tuning machine  learning algorithms and benchmarking different models.  The work will be somewhat repetitive and it will require a strong ability to focus on details and quality, as well as intermediate python proficiency. 

Data Science Project Intern

Position:  approx. 30 hours/week for about 3 months 

Location: Mainly remote with biweekly visits to office at Otakaari 5, Espoo, Finland

Salary: 1600€ /month 

Main responsibilities

• Image annotation 
• Assisting in fine-tuning machine learning algorithms 
• Benchmarking different models
• Assisting in improving cloud and ship detection algorithms

Qualifications / Requirements

• Ongoing studies in the Data Science field
• Understanding and proficiency in GIS, digitalisation, labeling and image processing
• Intermediate Python Proficiency
• A resilience for repetitive work and efficiency at such
• An affinity for details and quality
• Quick-learner and self-motivated
• Project mindset - achieving goals and milestones within deadlines
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Occasional office presence (Living near Espoo, Finland) 
• A laptop and stable internet connection
