Job Description - Project Manager (Advocacy)

The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (hereunder as ‘HKSR’) is a pioneer in rehabilitation dedicated to providing holistic and personalized services to empower persons with disabilities, chronic illnesses or challenges of aging to lead fulfilling lives, and to advocate for an inclusive society. We are a non-governmental organization receiving subvention from government and funds from private donors and other sources. Key responsibilities:

  • To conduct literature reviews, policy analyses, and in-depth studies for advocacy projects in areas such as accessibility and inclusive environments for persons with disabilities, healthcare, rehabilitation, and elderly care
  • To strategically plan, implement, and monitor various advocacy projects to achieve impactful outcomes. Specific responsibilities include preparing advocacy papers and opinion pieces on behalf of the organisation, organising press conferences to present findings from advocacy projects, crafting related articles and social media posts targeting the general public, and coordinating and executing lobbying efforts aimed at government and decision-makers. This role also involves preparing regular progress reports and implementing strict budget control measures to ensure efficient resource utilisation
  • To foster effective communication and collaboration with diverse community stakeholders, both within internal departments and external parties, to drive impactful advocacy projects, and to contribute to the building and nurturing of a common stakeholder platform for the organisation
  • To implement initiatives that cultivate an advocacy culture within the organization (training, workshops, coaching, newsletter articles writing)
  • To support the content development of public education initiatives that aim at promoting accessible and inclusive environments
  • To fulfil other duties as assigned by the supervisors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Social Work, Social Policy, Social Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, or related discipline
  • At least 3-year experience, preferably in rehabilitation, elderly care or other healthcare-related fields
  • Strong sensitivity to current affairs, especially health and social care policies
  • Proficiency in both Chinese and English language with good writing skills
  • Outgoing, self-motivated, independent, detail-oriented, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills, effective communication abilities, and a strong team player
