Senior Legal Counsel

We function as trusted legal advisers to our management and the business and other support functions that we serve. We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Senior Legal Counsel . Principal responsibilities:

• Acts as main Execution Legal Risk Steward for the HASE Group on behalf of the General Counsel who is the Legal Risk Steward
• Acts as lead lawyer for HASE Group wide legal risk matters and providing subject matter expertise on HSBC Group's Legal Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) and Procedure
• Works closely with all members of the Legal Function, as well as the Group and Regional Legal Risk Management and Assurance (LRMA) Teams of HSBC
• HASE lead for key LRMA initiatives, including support on the requirements of the Non Financial Risk Management Programme
• Designs and builds structures and solutions for the management of non-financial risks within the Legal Function consistent with the HSBC Group's non-financial risk management framework, including relevant escalation in respect of the management of risks within the Legal Function
• Identifies and shares risks, themes and issues and best practices across the Legal Function, liaising closely with Group and Regional LRMA team and leveraging Helios data
• Undertakes second line oversight monitoring and escalation in respect of the management of legal risks in the businesses and functions
• Provides training, guidance and support to the members of the Legal Function to ensure the effective implementation of the Group's non-financial risk management framework
• Acts as a key contact between Operational Risk and the Legal Function, including involvement in Operational Risks projects
• Monitors and identifies top and emerging legal risks and issues in consultation with the General Counsel and other members in the Legal Function, and prepare monthly legal risks and other reports as required for submission to HASE Exco, RMM and Regional LRMA teams
• Prepares agendas for, and lead monthly Legal Department meetings
• Participates in various committees and regular meetings on behalf of the HASE Legal Department as assigned by the General Counsel
• Coordinates other cross business line/functional matters and projects as required by the General Counsel and
• Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets

Requirements:

Qualified Lawyer with 8-10 years' experience Experienced and confident practitioner Audit or Compliance experience an advantage Good knowledge of the HASE and HSBC Group corporate structures, its business and personnel and a clear understanding of HASE and HSBC's corporate culture a plus Strong understanding of non-financial risk framework and tools Up-to-date knowledge of developments in own industry sector Ability to handle a diverse range of issues, deal with new or unexpected situations and work under pressure Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong inter-personal skills Lateral thinking/problem solving Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
