Click here to fill the application JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer Department: Technical Best Practice (TBP) Reporting to: Manager, Equipment Design (TBP) Location: Bangalore (India) One of the objectives of the Technical Best Practice (TBP) team is to develop, maintain and continuously improve Desmet’s proprietary equipment that is used in its Oils & Fats applications. Main duties and responsibilities You will be responsible for calculating the complex dynamic equipment (rotating and moving), machines and their components through classical theoretical approach and Finite Element Analyses, which significantly contribute towards development and optimisation of a safe and durable product. You will play a major role in making ‘Root cause analyses’ when needed and providing technical solution and assistance to the design team / workshops. As main activities, you will: - the provided basic data for the product (i.e. purpose of the equipment, process conditions, Technical Sheet, basis of design, drawings, etc.) - analytically the parts by applying the relevant theory/mechanics (by hand, MS office applications, etc.) - and simulate the product by means of Finite Elements (SolidWorks or Inventor + Nastran) - analyse and evaluate results - and further redevelop design with the Manager, Equipment Design (TBP) - design as approved by the relevant Steering Committee. - and maintain the related reports, documentations, specifications, references As reporting to the Manager, Equipment Design (TBP) located in Brussels (Belgium), you will liaise regularly with him to agree on: - matters: priorities, resources, work organization, planning, etc.; - matters Hard skills - knowledge in material standards (ASME and EN), welding procedures, manufacturing processes and detailed engineering drawing - working knowledge in calculating complex and dynamic equipment - use of applicable theory, simulation software (SolidWorks or Inventor + Nastran) and MS office applications (i.e. Excel) - in checking and reviewing the detailed engineering drawings to ensure i.e. manufacturability, compliance with calculations and internal standards - in English - to travel to other Desmet’s offices, workshops, etc. Soft skills - with excellent problem-solving skills - structured, and able to work with a high level of autonomy - player - Reliable - communication Education and Experience - degree in engineering (Preferably Mechanical, Industrial or Automotive engineering). - degree with 8-10 years of experience in mechanical design and calculation or a Master’s degree with 6-8 years of experience. - from a mechanical industry that builds machines or from a workshop is an asset - of fatigue analysis is an asset
