Automation Engineer

Hobson Prior is seeking an Automation Engineer to support the development and maintenance of computerized process monitoring systems in a Biopharmaceutical facility. This role involves enhancing the reliability and compliance of existing systems, troubleshooting equipment, and providing technical input to various business processes.

Responsibilities:

- Work with site and global stakeholders to develop automated solutions for equipment and processes.

- Evaluate new technology and act as a subject matter expert for the introduction of process automation solutions.

- Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and investigate control systems hardware and software.

- Develop preventive maintenance strategies, SOPs, and test scripts.

- Ensure automation and control systems comply with regulatory requirements.

- Implement change control, CAPA, and issue investigations for automated GMP systems and equipment.

- Search for and implement innovative solutions to improve system performance, reliability, and compliance.

- Support training efforts for new equipment installations.

Key Skills and Requirements:

- Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

- Experience supporting computerized systems in a GMP regulated environment.

- Understanding of automation standards and architecture for batch process control.

- Experience in pharma/biopharma manufacturing.

- Knowledge and experience of computerized biopharmaceutical equipment, instruments & systems.

- Experience with OT Networks and Server infrastructure requirements, OPC technologies & scripting.

- Proven programming and maintenance experience with PLCs and Software applications.

- Knowledge of Building Management/Automation Systems.

- Experience with various data communication protocols and architectures.

- Ability to perform and communicate effectively in a multi-discipline team structure.

- Familiarity with industry regulations and guidelines including ICH, cGMP, GAMP, PIC/s, HPRA & FDA.
