IT Solution Architect, Networks

We are seeking an IT Solution Architect with drive & commitment to work in our fast-paced, dynamic, customer-focused environment.

Role Purpose:

As a Solutions Architect you have one eye on the “now” and the other on the future and balance the known with the unknown. You are the creative technologist who knows that what we do today always needs to bring us closer to the North Star set out by the Enterprise Architect with input from you whilst also understanding that stepping stones may have to be put in place. As a Network Solution Architect, you will be responsible for collaborating on business challenges and determining how IT can deliver network solutions that help solve those challenges. You, together with the Enterprise Architect, will ensure that IT strategy is aligned with business goals and will work with the delivery teams in developing and implementing effective solutions. You will do this by bringing together business, system, security, application and technology architecture. To be effective in this role, you will need to build a collaborative, positive, problem-solving environment.

We are looking for you to join the Cloud & Networks team where we build and maintain network and infrastructure solutions that underpin business systems across all functions in the Musgrave business.

Your activities in this role will include the following:

• Ensure network requirements are gathered and clearly documented
• Develop potential network solutions for business needs or problems.
• Support project managers in scoping and costing of projects with network elements
• Support project managers in delivery of projects with network elements
• Work in collaboration with the IT strategic partner on developing network solutions
• QA the implementation and deliverables of third party partners
• Proactively identify areas where IT networks can support business needs and goals.
• Working with 3rd party product and engineering teams to develop secure, robust & scalable network solutions where your output is focused on Solution Assessments, HLDs and LLDs
• Designing, being cognisant of development cost, ongoing development in terms of skills requirements and operations
• Communicating effectively with stakeholders to develop solutions and achieve consensus.
• Contributing to IT strategy, standards & governance including leading the Design Authority on projects
• Leading technology evaluations and becoming instrumental in guiding our technology goals
• Close collaboration with the Enterprise Architect.
• Support the integration and transition of new network solutions/services into live operations
• Mentoring other network engineering team members & promote network engineering best practices
• Demonstrate expertise and leadership in problem solving
• Support the delivery of highly available and robust network service levels, suggesting solutions and improvements to problems when and where appropriate

We want you to take an active role in all the above, working closely with Musgrave Colleagues and 3rd party Delivery and operations teams.

Education, Experience & Skills

• IT orientated degree
• 10+ years of work experience in network technology disciplines
• Experience of network management in enterprise scale 24 x 7 highly available environment
• Proven network architecture, design, and implementation experience
• Ability to conceptualize and translate business requirements into network solutions
• Strong working experience in understanding the cost of solutions both in development and ongoing maintenance and recommendations regarding choice of solution
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
• Ability to motivate in a team-oriented collaborative environment
• Experience at providing technical leadership to project resources to meet
• project deadlines and ensure business objectives are met
• Ability to review architecture designs, to identify issues and risks, including effective escalation
• Experience partnering with third party vendors and hybrid teams
• Self-motivated, with a proven ability to learn new technology and stay current on industry trends.
