Junior Mechanical Estimator

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Estimator and as an integral part of the estimating team, you will be responsible for assisting to prepare accurate mechanical cost estimates in a timely manner. You will become proficient in the use of cost estimating software with training provided. You will work on tenders for projects such as Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Data Centers, Semi-Conductor, Commercial, etc across Ireland and the UK.

Responsibilities:

You will assist to:

• Conduct in-dept reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, etc
• Preform accurate quantity take-offs and mark up measured drawings
• Request, manage and evaluate supplier and sub-contractor quotations
• Issue tender queries and RFIs
• Prepare costed bill of quantities
• Prepare tender pricing schedules and other tender return documents
• Manage data base
• Attend meetings and site visits are when required
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and wider project teams
• Other related tasks as instructed

Candidate requirements:

• Degree in either Mechanical, Process, Building Services Engineering or other related field
• Previous experience in a contracting environment is beneficial but not essential
• Strong computer skills especially in the use of MS Office
• Understanding of mechanical pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing and other mechanical building services systems
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
• Must display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical and organisational skills
• Problem solving skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities
