Job Description:

Position Overview: The SMT Production Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production process and all aspects of the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) process within the manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective operations of SMT production lines, overseeing technicians, meeting production targets, maintaining quality standards and implementing best practices to optimize PCBA operations. The SMT Production Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Oversight:
• Plan and schedule PCBA production activities to meet project timelines and customer requirements
• Supervise the daily operations of the SMT production lines, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow management.
• Monitor production output, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to optimize throughput and efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to production schedules and deadlines to meet customer demands and organizational goals.
• Conduct regular inspections to maintain equipment functionality and address any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
• Implement process improvements and optimization strategies to enhance productivity and reduce costs
2. Quality Assurance:
• Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the consistent production of high-quality products.
• Conduct regular quality audits and inspections to identify defects, non-conformities and areas for improvement of PCBA processes.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address quality issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
3. Team Leadership:
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production operators, technicians, and supervisors to achieve performance targets and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and competencies of the production team.
• Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety training, and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
4. Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements within the SMT production department.
• Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to implement new technologies, equipment, and methodologies to enhance production capabilities.
• Lead and support continuous improvement projects, lean initiatives, and Kaizen events to drive operational excellence.
5. Equipment and Technology
• Oversee the maintenance and calibration of PCBA equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
• Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and competitiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement upgrades and modifications to existing equipment and processes.
6. Communication and Collaboration:
• Foster open communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, logistics, and customer service, to ensure alignment of goals and priorities.
• Serve as a point of contact for resolving production-related issues, addressing customer inquiries and facilitating problem-solving.
7. Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and certifications e.g. ISO, IPC
• Keep abreast of industry trends and developments in PCBA technology, regulations and best practices.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing or related field is preferred;
• At least 5 years proven managerial experience in SMT production management and PCBA manufacturing
• Strong technical knowledge of PCBA processes, equipment and materials
• In-depth knowledge of SMT processes, equipment and best practices.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
• Solid understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and manufacturing ERP/MRP systems.
