Job Title : Finance Manager

Location : Demak Laut, Kuching

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager to lead and oversee all financial operations for our growing company. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and internal controls. 

 

Responsibilities

1.Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Provide and perform in-dept analyses of financial data, identifying trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction and providing insights to support informed decision-making to Directors and Senior Management Team.
  • Perform financial and variance analysis of the Group results monthly and ad hoc.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies, developments and plans to achieve company objectives.
  • Implementing and maintaining robust financial reporting systems and procedures.
  • Managing relationships with external auditors and ensuring adherence to auditing standards.
  • Managing relationships with bankers and staying up to date with the latest news, trends and incentives.
  • Review of GL account postings on a periodical basis, subject to the Director’s discretion, to ensure accuracy and following general account practices.
  • Ensure proper reconciliations are done between operation and accounting software.
  • Responsible for all aspects of account/financial-related activities including accounting, financial reports and analysis, auditing, taxation for the Group.
  • Responsible for preparation and consolidating of monthly management reports, financial statements and cash flow forecast and projection.
  • Timely preparation of Group consolidated financial statements and Annual Report for regulatory reporting in compliance with the listing requirement and any other regulatory bodies.

2.Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Develop and maintain detailed budgets and forecasts, including monitoring variances and taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Implement comprehensive short term and long term budgets for the entire group.
  • Conducting regular variance analysis, identifying deviations from the budget, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Creating reliable financial forecasts to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Monitoring KPIs and providing regular updates to senior management.

3.Risk Management & Internal Controls

  • Identifying and assessing financial risks facing the company, including market risks, liquidity risks, and operational risks.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive internal control policies and procedures to mitigate these risks.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls and taking corrective action as needed.

4.Treasury & Financial Strategy

  • Overseeing the management of the company's cash flow, including forecasting, funding, and investment activities.
  • Collaborating with the Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Sourcing and negotiating financing arrangements, such as government grants, bank loans and lines of credit.
  • Managing currency exposure and mitigating foreign exchange risks.

5.Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and manage the Finance team, including setting goals, providing guidance, and ensuring team effectiveness.
  • Manage and develop the Group Finance team, including identifying and recruiting qualified personnel.
  • Coordinate and oversee audit exercises, also liaise with external auditors and other stakeholders, providing accurate and timely financial information.
  • Fostering a culture of positivity, professionalism, ethics and etiquette as well as integrity and loyalty.
  • Monitor the smooth running of the department's functions and ensure proper internal controls and systems is in place. This will require working together with other HOD.

6.Legal Compliance

  • Compliance with statutory requirements and enforcing policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Comply with all Acts, laws, articles of associations, rules and regulations pertaining to and/or affecting the Company’s business and be conversant with all statutory updates (where required) as may be introduced thereto.
  • Update with the latest applicable accounting standards and other developments in accounting.

7.Additional Duties

  • Represent the company at external meetings and conferences.
  • Represent the Finance Department at meetings and presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date on financial trends and best practices.
  • To perform any other tasks as and when requested by Management from time to time.
  • To keep up to date with external parties, maintain good relationship with others and able to represent the company at all and any functions.
  • Liaising with other departments (e.g., operations, sales, marketing) to ensure coordination and alignment with financial goals.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Travel periodically to visit other company locations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, preferably with a professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CMA).
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a multinational or multi-site organization.
  • Proven track record of success in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant financial software (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Experience working with international accounting standards is a plus.
  • Existing relationship with bankers is a plus
