Financial Accountant

SMART Photonics is a rapidly growing, ambitious open foundry on InP Photonics. We are unique in offering our customers a Process Design Kit (PDK) which allows them to design complex photonic circuits. Our customers come from a range of market sectors, including telecom/datacom, medical sensing, automotive/lidar and quantum technologies.

Our Finance department is responsible to guide our growth from scale-up to become a TIER 1 foundry on an all-round financial aspect. Improve processes, prepare for exceptional growth, and even start to think a possible IPO. To do so, we need to grow our team with an experienced Accountant.

Your key responsibilities will be predominantly general finance and accounting and support on the financial reporting cycle. In addition, you will also support on the design and implementation of improvement projects to ensure compliance with the policies of the company as well as the regulations for grants.

General Finance and Accounting Responsibilities:

• Month-end and year-end closing activities and external reporting.
• Execution of the Accounts Payable activities. Proactivity on improvements in the PtP cycle.
• Reporting to internal and external stakeholders, direct report to our Chief Accountant.
• Follow internal accounting policy and support audit requests.
• Preparation of account reconciliations and follow-up on audit findings.
• Cost allocation for compliance with accounting standards, subsidies and grants.
• Support and assist the other departments in any financial/accounting requests.
• VAT submissions, Intrastat submissions and Intracommunity Performance.
• Support with the design and implementation of improvements to achieve a World Class Finance level.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• +3 years of accounting experience in a commercial / manufacturing organization
• Excellent proficiency in written and oral English communication skills, Dutch is a plus.
• Knowledge of IFRS. Dutch GAAP is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills interfacing with multiple stakeholders at different levels of our organization.
• Accurate, good analytical skills. Proactive and with drive for continuous improvement.
• Ability to plan, organize, and schedule workload to proactively facilitate the business in a rapidly changing and demanding environment.
• Team player, collaboration oriented, hands-on approach. Ability to wear multiple hats and learn across the Finance function.
