Our client is a leading provider of Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, Surface Logistics and Distribution (3PL) services and has taken pride in the delivery of cargo to any market around the world.
Currently expanding, we are looking for an Import Operator to support their growth and join an excellent team of professionals in Amsterdam.
Job Profile for Import Operator
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Operational Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and track inbound airfreight shipments, ensuring timely customs clearance and delivery
- Prepare and review shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations
- Communicate with suppliers, airlines, and customs brokers to resolve import-related issues
- Arrange transportation and negotiate rates with carriers for efficient movement of goods
- Perform inventory reconciliation and manage stock levels for imported goods
- Stay updated on import regulations, customs tariffs, and trade agreements to facilitate smooth clearance processes
- Assist in staff retention and training efforts
- Communicate with the department managers regarding progress, problems or issues
- Maintain a flexible work schedule, including outside normal business hours and after-hours on-call rotation
Customer Service-Related Responsibilities:
- Track and monitor import shipments to ensure on-time delivery, manage delays or disruptions
- Handle and resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and requests related to airfreight imports
- Assist in evaluating and selecting service providers to optimise supply chain efficiency
- Coordinate with the Finance department to process and reconcile import-related invoices and payments
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in Airfreight Import Operations
Candidate Profile for Import Operator
- Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch is highly preferred
- MBO 4 degree or еducation in Logistics or Supply Chain is preferred
- 1-2 years of relevant experience is required
- Detail-oriented and customer-focused mindset
