Job Description - Procurement Officer

Job Title:Procurement Officer.

Job Location: Lekki, Lagos.

Job Overview:

Our client , a dynamic conglomerate renowned for its expertise in Real Estate and other industries, is seeking a dynamic Procurement Officer to manage the procurement process for construction projects. The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery to support project timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects, leveraging negotiation skills and market knowledge to secure favorable terms and pricing.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery, aligning procurement activities with project objectives and timelines.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers and subcontractors, conducting due diligence assessments and maintaining relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, contracts, and agreements, ensuring terms and conditions are clearly defined, and contractual obligations are met by all parties involved.
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage supplier relationships, tracking delivery timelines, quality standards, and adherence to contractual agreements, and addressing any performance issues or discrepancies as they arise.
  • Coordinate with project teams to forecast material and equipment needs accurately, collaborating to identify requirements, lead times, and quantities required to support project schedules and milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations, conducting regular audits and evaluations to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
  • Evaluate and analyze procurement processes, performance metrics, and market trends, leveraging data insights to make informed decisions, optimize procurement strategies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
