About the role | Mō te tūranga
- As the Community Housing Support Worker, you are expected to uncover and unleash the strengths of the people you are working with. Your interpersonal skills are crucial to form positive and professional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including MSD, MHUD, ADHB and social housing providers, Kainga Ora, landlords, moteliers and building managers.
Duties | Mahi
- Support with daily tasks and interventions so that people may learn, or improve, their practical life skills (e.g. budgeting, paying bills, planning meals etc.
- Providing information and advice on welfare rights, tenancy rights and responsibilities, and supporting people to develop self-advocacy and assertiveness skills in these areas.
- Deliver culturally responsive services, which incorporate peoples spiritual, cultural and holistic needs, that are whanau led, strengths based, and align with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Skills & Experience | Pukenga & wheako
- Proven ability to manage a mixed caseload, preferably in a community based setting
- Must have excellent reporting and excel in oral and written communication skills.
- Relevant qualification or experience (including lived experience) in one of the following fields: social work, mental health, social housing, addictions, support work, peer or consumer advisor; with an ability to demonstrate practical transferable skills.
- Knowledge or understanding of motivational interviewing, harm reduction and or trauma informed care
- MUST HAVE OWN VEHICLE & NZ FULL DRIVER'S LICENSE!
