Mana Mahi is delighted to partner with Creative New Zealand, the arts council of Aotearoa, to recruit this Project Support Coordinator role for their Māori Strategy and Partnerships team.

Creative New Zealand plays a crucial role in nurturing the national arts landscape by encouraging, promoting, and supporting the arts for the benefit of all New Zealanders. This includes funding, capability building, international programs, and advocacy. This role sits within the Māori Strategy and Partnerships team.

About the Role:

This fixed-term position begins immediately and extends until September 2024. Key to your success will be your exceptional research and critical thinking abilities, which will support strategic initiatives designed to uphold and enrich Māori culture and align it with our national identity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the Manager to research, gather, and synthesise complex information for strategic development in the following areas:
  1. Strategy review and development.
  2. Initiatives for new literature/publication.
  3. Historical timeline projects.
• Analyse how these projects interact with and impact policies both locally and internationally.
• Develop and coordinate presentations that effectively communicate these insights.

Who We Are Looking For:

You are a sharp critical thinker with a strong arts background, familiar with the nuances of Māori culture and the broader implications of your work. You respect tikanga Māori and have a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Your proactive approach to anticipating challenges and offering solutions will be key to your success.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in high-level research and critical analysis, especially within the arts sector and related to cultural policies.
• Excellent professional communication skills
• Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 suite
• Experience in representing Māori perspectives and values in diverse settings
