Based in Te Puia Springs Hospital on the East Coast 1.5 hours north of Gisborne, Te Puia Springs Hospital is a rural hub for the care of our coastal community's. 

 

About the role:

Nursing at Ngati Porou Oranga offers many unique opportunities to develop and practice your skills in a wide range of clinical areas. On any given day Nursing Staff working in our Community Health Centers provide a full range of primary health care services. Nurses assess and manage people with a variety of health issues, challenging physical and mental health problems, substance abuse related issues, as well as responding to emergencies and providing health education.

ACLS Level 6/CORE Advanced
• Demonstrates leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to create effective working relationships Proven ability to develop professional quality nursing care
• Ability to plan and deliver education and skills confidently to NPO staff
• Demonstrates evidence of commitment to service development and delivery of innovative strategies for primary health care
• Demonstrates effective time management with proven ability to efficiently plan and organise workload to meet service needs.
• Demonstrates evidence of effective interpersonal skills including negotiation skills, conflict management, team effectiveness, and problem solving and change management.
• Demonstrates knowledge of quality improvement initiatives including clinical audit review
• Demonstrates knowledge of information and communication technology, including Microsoft Office and MedTech 32.
• A high level of cultural sensitivity and awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi and the Ottawa charter.
• Sound oral and written communication skills and excellent time management and personal work organization skills.
• Understanding of Vaccine preventable diseases and strategies inclusive of notifiable processes

  • Current NZ nursing registration
  • Recent experience in primary or secondary health care nursing
  • A broad range of post-graduate clinical experience
  • The ability to assess and respond to an emergency situation.
  • The motivation to continue learning and developing professionally.
  • A non-judgmental approach
  • Experience in triage (desirable)
  • A commitment to Ngati Porou Oranga organisational mission and values 
  • A high level of cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Ability to communicate and relate to people at all levels. 
  • Effective Networking with Key Stake Holders and communities
  • Able to ensure continuous quality improvement activities are incorporated into all.
