Key responsibilities:
This position involves working to repair, maintain and inspect diesel engines but not limited to:
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems with diesel engines, including troubleshooting issues with fuel systems, exhaust systems, and transmissions.
- Conducting performance and diagnostic tests on diesel engines using specialized equipment to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Removing and replacing worn or damaged engine components, such as pistons, bearings, and fuel injectors.
- Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed on each diesel engine, as well as any parts replaced.
- Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment and proper use of protective equipment.
- Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure that repairs are completed on time and to specification.
- Any other tasks at the employer’s discretion.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Three(3) years work experience as a Diesel Mechanic or relevant occupation, or a relevant qualification of NZ level 4
- P roficiency in identifying performance issues.
- Ability to perform repairs and replacements as required efficently .
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections.
- Keep accurate records of repairs and parts to prevent breakdowns.
- Keeping costs of the repairs within the maintenance budget
- Physically fit
- Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal check
Location: The Diesel Mechanic may be required to work across Canterbury, Waikato, Auckland, Southland, Whangarei,Otago,Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Marlborough, Hawke's Bay
This role will be a permanent and full-time job.
A minimum of 30 hours of work are guaranteed.
Minimum and maximum hourly rate: $29.66-$35
