We are looking for a focused Healthy Homes Skilled Handyperson/Assessor - Habitat for Humanity Charity to join our dynamic team at Habitat for Humanity Northern Region Ltd in East Tamaki, Auckland.

The Role

Healthy Homes Skilled Handyperson/Assessor - Auckland Region

Fixed Term role until 30 June 2025

Specific Duties:

  • Provide housing assessments and Healthy Homes reports in Tamaki Makaurau / Auckland. 
  • Provide significant education to whānau on how they can make changes in their behaviour that support a warmer, drier home.
  • Carry out minor repairs on homes, included but not limited to:
    • Installing rails. 
    • Hooking and hanging curtains.
    • Installing V-SEAL and Brush Strips to reduce draughts.
    • Trimming vegetation.
    • Cleaning gutters.
    • Small repairs around the home to support the thermal envelope.
  • Build relationships with whānau.
  • Learn our database system and support reporting and data entry where required.
  • Advise families of other support mechanisms available to them within their community as appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with the wider Habitat team and external contractors.
  • Liaise with landlords/ property managers/ homeowners to confirm bookings where needed.

 

Skills and Experience

Ideally the candidate will have:

  • Enthusiasm for the role and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work within and communicate effectively with a range of cultures, particularly Māori and Pasifika.
  • Ability to multi-task and work autonomously 
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Competent in word and outlook.
  • Competent on Salesforce or other similar CRM system
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Effective inter-cultural communication skills

You will be provided with all equipment required for the job and will receive guidance and support throughout your role.
