About the Role (your why)

This is a key, strategic role within Datacom, tasked with driving growth, innovation and ultimately commercial success for a market facing proposition. Working as the Practice Manager for Application Assurance you will guide the future of your practice in Auckland.

You will take responsibility for leading a high performing team with significant budget and customer engagement responsibilities. This role will combine your technology background with your business and leadership skills and a multi-million-dollar budget, combining your strong commercial awareness to craft, position and sell.

As business continues to grow, and we adapt to a changing landscape a role has become available in our Auckland based Application Assurance capability, which is where you come in - The Application Assurance business is focused on operating, enhancing and enabling our customer’s critical applications. You'll work primarily across our Auckland-based customers and lead a practice which is working in the social sector and primarily focused on Microsoft technologies.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic direction: Define and execute a growth strategy for the Practice.
  • Business Development: Consulting with the wider business, you will to define and own the plan for Application Assurance opportunities and presales for your practice area. You will champion the products and services of your practice with external customers and additionally within Datacom’s Customer, Sales and other internal teams. You will own the propositions put forward to your customers.
  • Leadership: You will join the Application Assurance Leadership team, assisting with the strategic evolution of the business. provide expert guidance and technical leadership relating to the Application Assurance teams in your practice.
  • Team Leadership: Define and execute the capability plan to create a culture of success, including team growth, performance, and development. Organise, lead and facilitate cross-functional project and assurance teams.
  • Commercial and financial management: Create and manage the operational budget, including month-end processes, invoicing and reporting (Actuals vs Forecast). Provide Commercial leadership for the practice, including inputting into the Assurance financial forecasting and FY planning.
  • Business Operations: Lead workforce planning and hiring, customer engagement, delivery oversight, and refine delivery and performance of services. Own commercial engagements, monitoring Monitors service delivery from initiation through completion to meet revenue and cost projections.
  • Commercial and financial management: Create and manage the operational budget, including month-end processes, invoicing and reporting.



What you’ll bring

As the Practice Manager, you will be in a senior position leading an area within our high-performing Application Assurance business. Required experience:

  • Experience driving growth, managing commercial operations, and leading innovation.
  • Excellent people skills, commercial acumen, and a solid understanding of software application and professional services delivery.
  • Comfortable owning the execution of the strategic direction of your practice. You will set direction and ensure the required governance across initiatives in your space.
  • Ability to lead and engage with customers on strategic application assurance engagements.
  • Working knowledge of advancement in the IT industry
  • Excellent relationship building and management skills.
  • Proactive, growth focused leader.
  • Influential, interpersonal and communication skills to engage senior leaders as well as technical specialists
