Youth Sailing Coach & Club Support

Naval Point Club Lyttelton – Lyttelton, Christchurch

We are seeking a Youth Sailing Coach & Club Support to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week

Pay: $27.00 per hour

Start: 11 September 2026

Location: Magazine Bay, Lyttelton

Key Duties

1. Coach Adult, Kids Learn to Sail and Junior Sailing programmes.
2. Deliver after-school, school and holiday sailing programmes.
3. Support sailors at local and national regattas.
4. Plan coaching sessions and provide feedback to sailors.
5. Coach safely from a powerboat and lead other coaches when required.
6. Coordinate with local schools for the Runa, Moanamana programme.
7. Assist with bar and kitchen service on Wednesday evenings and rostered shifts.
8. Provide general administrative support to the Club Manager.

About You

The successful applicant will have:

1. Sailing and coaching experience.
2. Experience working with children and young people.
3. Good communication and organisational skills.
4. Strong knowledge of water safety.
5. Ability to work weekends, evenings and school holidays.
6. Yachting New Zealand coaching experience/qualifications are desirable.
