Job Title: Secondary English Teacher - International Baccalaureate (IB) Location: Muscat, Oman August 2024 Start - The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school was established in 1993 under the ownership of the Royal Office and Royal Oman Police Pension Funds, on land donated by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, to provide high quality international education whilst embracing traditional values based on the foundations of Omans cultural heritage. The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS). Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary English Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The successful candidate will have experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably within an IB or international school setting. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing engaging curriculum materials, and supporting students in their academic and personal growth. Responsibilities: Plan and deliver comprehensive English language and literature instruction to secondary students (grades 6-12), following the IB curriculum framework. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student inquiry, critical thinking, and creative expression. Design and implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate student progress and achievement, providing timely feedback to support student learning. Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units of inquiry and promote cross-curricular connections. Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience and meet the diverse needs of students. Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open communication and collaboration. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in English language teaching and IB education. Contribute to the wider school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, committees, and school events. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Teaching certification or license from a recognized authority. Minimum of 4 years of experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably in an IB or international school environment. Deep understanding of the IB curriculum framework and pedagogy, with experience in implementing inquiry-based learning and assessment practices. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset. Fluency in English (spoken and written). Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in education.
