Design Estimator - Work From Home / Dayshift

The Estimator & Designer is responsible for translating performance-based or incomplete briefs into fully compliant, build-ready security and fire system designs with commercially accurate tenders. This role combines strong technical authority in security systems with solid fire and life safety expertise, ensuring risk-aware designs, disciplined pricing, and protected margins. Acting at the intersection of engineering judgment and commercial outcomes, the position supports successful project delivery across government and commercial environments by producing compliant designs, accurate estimates, and clear documentation.

• Convert performance-based specifications into fully defined, compliant system designs.
• Produce accurate, margin-aligned tenders for security and fire systems across commercial and government projects.
• Develop compliant security and fire system layouts where specifications are incomplete or performance-based.
• Produce system designs across government, commercial office, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and data centre environments.
• Prepare drawings and design documentation suitable for construction.
• Interpret MEP drawings and identify all relevant fire and security scopes.
• Quantify and extract components from drawings using CAD, Bluebeam, and SimPRO.

• Proven experience in security systems estimating and design within commercial or government environments.
• Security systems background is mandatory. Fire and life safety experience is essential.
• Strong working knowledge of BS5839 and compliant fire alarm design.
• Solid understanding of CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and integrated systems.
• Experience interpreting MEP drawings and identifying embedded scope.
• Proficient in CAD, Bluebeam, and estimating platforms such as SimPRO.
• Construction industry background with exposure to electrical and IT infrastructure.
