1This position reports to the Payroll Operations and Accounting Manager in Chevron’s Manila Shared Service Center (MSSC). The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Payroll Operations Team comprised of 14 analysts supporting various business units in the Asia Pacific and Africa region.
The role requires collaboration and partnership with internal and external parties; good understanding of systems and controls; critical reasoning to address issues, escalations, and special projects; exhibit keen attention to details; excellent leadership; and consistent demonstration of WE LEAD behaviors.
Job Description :
End-to-End Process Understanding :
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the entire payroll process, from data collection to paycheck distribution.
- Ensures seamless coordination across all stages of payroll operations.
Payroll Accuracy and Timeliness :
- Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing for all locations supported by the FSS (Financial Shared Services).
- Manages payroll events such as mass salary changes and year-end annualization.
Process Improvement and Collaboration :
- Guides the team in identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Collaborates with stakeholders (Global Process Owner, Business Unit partners, third-party vendors, IT, HR) for payroll projects and enhancements.
System Knowledge and Compliance :
- Understands different systems and reports to guide the team during system changes, training, and issue resolution.
- Stays informed about regulatory updates and ensures payroll processes align with changes.
Records Management and Controls :
- Maintains payroll records and adheres to prescribed retention periods and data privacy policies.
- Establishes and ensures consistent controls throughout the payroll process.
Adaptability and Resource Optimization :
- Helps the team adapt to changing work conditions.
- Explores opportunities to expand the scope of work and leverage best practices across workstreams and business units.
Leadership and Performance Management :
- Initiates and leads process improvement efforts.
- Monitors team performance against plans and benchmarks, taking corrective action as needed.
- Builds and maintains a skilled, committed, and high-performing team through coaching and feedback.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Professional Experience
- At least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
- Solid experience in payroll operations is highly preferred.
- Prior experience in a shared services environment will be considered a valuable asset.
