APAC Legal Counsel

Our client, a well-established organisation, is seeking an experienced lawyer to join the Legal team in its Singapore office. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will take on a regional remit covering corporate and commercial matters, including contract negotiation, disputes and regulatory issues, while also contributing to global projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Advise on commercial transactions, contracts and day-to-day business operations.
2. Partner with business units to identify legal risks and develop practical, commercially sound solutions.
3. Provide clear advice to stakeholders at all levels on corporate, regulatory, governance and compliance matters.
4. Manage disputes and claims, working with external counsel where required.
5. Help develop, implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
6. Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise the business on their impact.

Requirements:

1. Qualified lawyer with at least 8 years PQE, preferably across a mix of private practice and in-house roles.
2. Experience in commercial contracts, with banking and finance experience.
3. Strong expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management, with the ability to deliver pragmatic, solution-focused legal advice.
4. Experience handling cross-border matters and collaborating with diverse regional teams.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Solid commercial acumen and a practical approach to problem-solving.
