The Data Analytics position, will support NUH Epidemiology Unit’s critical mission of informing hospital infection prevention policies and initiatives, particularly as related to hospital acquired infections (HAI). He/She will work with relevant stakeholders and external providers (if needed) to develop and implement initiatives in this regard.
The candidate will also participate in specific hospital-level initiatives as assigned by Head, Epidemiology Unit where needed.
Accountabilities*
Operations
Develop and maintain data pipelines/databases for managing and processing various types of health data including electronic health records, administrative data, and other relevant data sources, particularly with the move to the new EMR system (EPIC)
Collaborate with epidemiologists and other researchers to provide data-driven insights and recommendations based on regular surveillance and monitoring of hospital-acquired infections
Monitor and analyze infection control data to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
Develop dashboards and visualizations for communicating relevant trends
Provide statistical support to the department for research papers, reports, and grant proposals
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties
Adherence to all hospital group’s policies and procedures
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and Job Requirements
Qualification Required and Area of Discipline
Masters degree from a recognized institution, majoring in Public Health and/or Biostatistics. Related fields (eg. health informatics, Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Epidemiology) will also be considered.
Required Competencies and Capabilities (Skills, Experiences and Professional Licences)
Any years of experience working in healthcare organisations would be advantageous. The candidate should have a strong background in database management, data analysis, statistics, and ideally a background in health informatics.
The candidate should be familiar with epidemiological concepts and principles. Technical capability or proclivity to adopt new technologies in big data extraction and analysis from existing EMR and hospital systems would be an advantage.
Other requirements would include:
Data visualization skills
Strong background in statistics
Proficiency with basic MS Office applications eg Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL
