VAST Data is scaling fast across Asia Pacific and Japan and the technical conversation has moved on. Customers are no longer asking about storage. They are asking how to build the data foundation for AI at a scale most of them have never operated before.

We need a Pre-Sales Director who can lead that conversation in the region: someone who carries the technical story into the boardroom, sits in the biggest deals personally, and builds a team of engineers who can do the same. This is a field leadership role, not a management layer.

Lead from the front. Take the senior technical seat in VAST's largest and most complex APJ opportunities. Shape the architecture, the business case and the executive narrative alongside the sales lead.

Represent VAST at the highest level. Present to CIO, CTO and CDO audiences, run executive briefings, keynote at partner and industry events, and act as the credible technical face of VAST in the region with press, analysts and the NVIDIA ecosystem.

Build and coach the crew. Hire, develop and retain pre-sales engineers across the region. Set the technical bar, run enablement that scales, and grow people into their next role rather than managing them through a dashboard.

Own the technical strategy for APJ. You will work hand in hand with APJ sales leadership as an equal partner, jointly accountable for where we compete, how we win, and which capabilities the region needs next. You report into global Pre-Sales in the US, so you carry the global technical standard into the region and the region's needs back to headquarters.

Be the field voice into product. Feed real customer requirements and competitive intelligence back to product and engineering, and influence roadmap on behalf of the region.

Partner where the leverage is. Work with channel, alliances and the wider AI infrastructure ecosystem so partner engineers can carry the VAST story without us in the room.

What we are looking for

• 10+ years in pre-sales or solutions engineering, including at least three to four years leading a distributed team across multiple countries
• Real depth in AI infrastructure: GPU compute, training and inference pipelines, data platforms and the economics of running them at scale. A storage or data management background is valuable but not sufficient on its own
• Executive presence. Comfortable in front of a board, on a stage, and in a difficult technical challenge from a customer architect on the same day
• A view on where this market is going. We want someone who is already thinking about agentic workloads, exascale data and what customers will need in three years, not someone waiting to be briefed on it
• Track record of building and coaching engineering talent, with the personal credibility that comes from having done the work
• Ability to operate in a fast-moving company where the product, the market and the competitive set all change quarter to quarter
• Willing and able to travel across the region at 50 to 60 percent. This is a permanent feature of the role, not a first-year push
• APAC market experience across several countries and cultures. Additional regional languages are welcome

What this role is not

We want to be direct about the shape of the job, because it will not suit everyone.

• It is not a desk job. Forecasting, cadence and reporting matter, but they are the smaller part of the week. If your preference is to run the team from a spreadsheet, this is the wrong role.
• It is not a role where the technology can be learned slowly. You should be able to hold a credible AI infrastructure conversation from day one and reach real depth on the VAST platform inside 90 days.
• It is not a single-country role. The scope is the whole of APJ. The team and the customers run from Sydney to Seoul and from Mumbai to Tokyo, and the travel is genuine.
• It is not a remote role. The base is Singapore.
