Food & Nutrition Kitchen Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients, materials and equipment for FCE/NFS lessons and practicals.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and safety of cookery rooms and kitchen areas.
• Manage kitchen inventory, food supplies and stock records.
• Assist with receiving food deliveries and support teachers during practical lessons.
• Ensure kitchen equipment, gas and electricity are safely secured after use.

Requirements:

• Basic English.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant kitchen/food & nutrition experience.
• WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 certificate.
• Good hygiene, housekeeping and kitchen safety awareness.
• Patient, responsible and able to work well with teachers and students.

Duration/Working hours:

1 year contract (Option to extend another year) Jan 2027 to Dec 2027

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7.15am to 4.15pm, inclusive of the half-hour lunch break.
• Fridays: 7.15am to 3.45pm, inclusive of half hour lunch break.
• However, the Kitchen Assistant is expected to support the school in terms of school events and programmes that may take place beyond the usual 7.15am – 4.15pm time frame.
• Service is not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazette public holidays.
