ID:\n\nJR99757 Package Characterization Lab Manager, APTD (Evergreen)\n\nOur vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.\n\nMicron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.\n\nJob Description\n\nAs Package Characterization Lab Manager within Advanced Packaging Technology Development (APTD), you will lead a high-performing team of shift engineers and technicians delivering package characterization and failure analysis (FA) support for leading-edge technology development in advanced packaging. You will provide technical direction, own lab operational excellence and workforce development, ensuring timely, high\u2011quality results that directly impact critical APTD technical decisions. This role partners closely with Micron\u0027s global engineering labs, subject-matter experts and external vendors to expand lab capability, efficiency and ensure forward-looking readiness for new technologies.\n\nResponsibilities and Tasks\n\nLab Management, Compliance \u0026 Audits\n\n * Lead Package Characterization lab operations to meet key performance metrics, cycle-time and safety standards.\n * Plan and optimize FA lab equipment, space, and budget to support current and future needs with high utilization efficiency.\n * Coordinate timely equipment calibration (external vendors), repairs, and spare parts procurement to ensure sustained equipment uptime.\n * Evaluate and introduce new FA tool models and capabilities in partnership with vendors and Micron subject\u2011matter experts.\n * Lead various EHS, quality, TS, ISO14001, OHSAS, and customer audits with a strong safety\u2011first culture.\n\n\n\nTechnical Leadership \u0026 Cross\u2011Functional Partnership\n\n * Provide technical mentorship and drive continuous improvement of package characterization methodologies and procedures.\n * Collaborate cross\u2011site to benchmark, standardize best-known methods to improve lab efficiency and effectiveness.\n * Ensure FA lab readiness for new product designs and technologies.\n * Align task priorities and execution with APTD team members, providing recommendations for optimal lab tool/resource usage.\n * Deliver timely, clear, and actionable package analysis insights to enable data\u2011driven technical and business decisions.\n\n\n\nWorkforce Development \u0026 Performance Management\n\n * Build and sustain a robust training and development program, including hands\u2011on FA casework, cross\u2011site learning, and leadership mentoring.\n * Define, track, and review performance metrics to identify gaps, drive accountability, and build a high\u2011performing team.\n * Provide mentorship, regular coaching, communication and career development for lab engineers and technicians.\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree or higher (Master\u2019s/PhD preferred) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related field.\n * 8+ years of experience in semiconductor package characterization (physical/thermal/chemical) and failure analysis field.\n * Knowledge of package FA tools and techniques including SEM, EDX, FIB, TEM, AFM, FTIR, XPS, X\u2011ray, CSAM, ion milling, delayering, and decapsulation.\n * Knowledge of semiconductor or advanced packaging manufacturing processes.\n * Experience in lab management, shift resource planning, and budgeting.\n * Proven technical leadership and people management capability.\n * Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer\u2011focused mentality\n\n\n\nJob Profile(s):\n\nProduct Development Manager 1\n\nRelocation level: (TBD)\n\nBefore Getting Started \nPlease review Micron\u2019s Internal Job Application Policy on your regional PeopleNow Career Opportunities page before searching and applying for jobs.
