Senior Java Microservices Developer – Alibaba Cloud

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Microservices Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and Alibaba Cloud services. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in backend development, cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, DevOps practices, and relational and NoSQL databases.



Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain robust Java-based applications.

  • Develop scalable and secure microservices using Java 8/11/17 and the Spring ecosystem.

  • Build RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and Spring MVC.

  • Implement persistence layers using Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.

  • Apply appropriate design patterns and best practices to create maintainable and reusable code.

  • Develop multithreaded and concurrent applications with a strong understanding of Java collections and exception handling.

  • Analyze and improve application performance through JVM tuning, profiling, and optimization.

  • Design and implement microservices components such as:

    • Service discovery

    • API gateways

    • Circuit breakers

    • Distributed transactions

    • Fault tolerance and resiliency mechanisms



  • Integrate messaging systems such as Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ.

  • Develop secure applications using Spring Security, authentication, authorization, and access-control mechanisms.

  • Deploy and manage applications on Alibaba Cloud, including ECS, ACK, OSS, RDS, SLB, VPC, and related services.

  • Build and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.

  • Use Maven or Gradle for build and dependency management.

  • Perform code reviews and maintain code quality using tools such as SonarQube.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.

  • Collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, QA teams, product owners, and other stakeholders.

  • Contribute to technical documentation, coding standards, and continuous process improvement.




Required Technical Skills

Core Java

  • Strong knowledge of Java 8, Java 11, or Java 17.

  • Java Collections Framework.

  • Multithreading and concurrency.

  • Exception handling and error management.

  • JVM performance tuning and memory management.

  • Object-oriented programming and SOLID principles.

  • Common design patterns and clean-code practices.


Spring and Backend Technologies

  • Spring Boot.

  • Spring MVC.

  • Spring Data JPA.

  • Spring Security.

  • Spring Cloud.

  • Hibernate and JPA.

  • RESTful web services and API development.

  • Microservices architecture and distributed systems.


Microservices and Messaging

  • Service discovery and registration.

  • API Gateway implementation.

  • Circuit breaker and resilience patterns.

  • Distributed transactions and eventual consistency.

  • Kafka and/or RabbitMQ.

  • Inter-service communication and API versioning.

  • Logging, monitoring, tracing, and exception management.


Alibaba Cloud

Hands-on experience with the following Alibaba Cloud services:

  • Elastic Compute Service (ECS)

  • Alibaba Cloud Kubernetes Service (ACK)

  • Object Storage Service (OSS)

  • Relational Database Service (RDS)

  • Server Load Balancer (SLB)

  • Cloud Monitor

  • Function Compute

  • Resource Access Management (RAM)

  • Container Registry

  • Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networking


DevOps and Development Tools

  • Docker.

  • Kubernetes.

  • Jenkins and/or GitLab CI.

  • Maven and/or Gradle.

  • Git and Git-based workflows.

  • SonarQube.

  • Linux and shell scripting.

  • CI/CD pipeline implementation and deployment automation.


Databases

  • MySQL.

  • PostgreSQL.

  • MongoDB.

  • Database design, indexing, query optimization, and transaction management.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications.

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of distributed tracing and observability tools.

  • Familiarity with API security, OAuth2, JWT, and secure coding practices.

  • Experience with system design, scalability, availability, and disaster-recovery concepts.

  • Alibaba Cloud certification is an advantage.

Suggested Experience Level

  • 5–8 years of professional software development experience

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot

  • Proven experience developing and deploying microservices on Alibaba Cloud or a comparable cloud platform.
