Trainee Cargo Officer ( 2 year)

1. Participate in a structured two-year development programme covering bunker cargo operations, vessel procedures and marine safety practices.
   


2. Support experienced cargo officers during loading, transfer, blending and delivery activities onboard bunker tankers.
   


3. Learn to prepare and verify operational records using the stock movement logbook, daily ROB reports and cargo documentation.
   


4. Assist with monitoring cargo quantity, product quality and custody controls throughout bunker operations.
   


5. Complete external training and certification aligned with SS 648:2024 and SS 600:2014 requirements.
   


6. Observe and apply safe working procedures during vessel operations, including equipment checks and pre-transfer preparations.
   


7. Develop the technical capability to perform junior cargo officer duties independently after completing the initial training period.
   


8. Coordinate with vessel personnel, cargo officers and shore-based teams to support smooth and timely operations.
   


9. Follow the assigned onboard work-and-rest schedule based on operational and vessel requirements.
   


10. Progress towards appointment as a full-fledged Bunker Cargo Officer upon successful completion of training, certification and performance assessments.
    

Requirements

1. Minimum secondary, NITEC, Higher NITEC or Diploma qualification; a maritime, engineering or logistics-related discipline is advantageous.
   


2. Entry-level candidates are welcome, with a strong interest in developing a career in bunker cargo operations.
   


3. Willingness to complete certification in SS 648:2024 and SS 600:2014 bunkering practices.
   


4. Comfortable working onboard vessels and following a rotating schedule that may include extended periods at sea.
   


5. Responsible, safety-conscious and able to communicate effectively while learning in a hands-on operational environment.
