ROLE OVERVIEW


The Intern supports the Information Security team by assisting with service management, ticket operations, reporting, documentation, and routine coordination activities across security operations.

The role focuses on monitoring and maintaining service tickets and records, tracking progress, supporting follow-up activities, and assisting with regular communications to ensure timely updates and closure. As part of the Information Security function, the intern will gain foundational exposure to security operations, IT service management practices, and enterprise support processes.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to IT service management (ITSM), security operations support, reporting, documentation, and enterprise ticketing processes within a global organization.


 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • The intern will work with the APEC Global Information Security team and be based in the Singapore office. 

  • Key responsibilities include:

    • Assist with day-to-day management of service tickets in ServiceNow or related ticketing platforms, including tracking status, due dates, updates, and closure.

    • Review ticket details and supporting information to understand basic requirements, identify missing information, and support validation and follow-up activities.

    • Monitor incoming tickets and alerts, perform basic validation (e.g. duplicates, missing information), and escalate high‑priority items as instructed.

    • Maintain simple tracking logs and reports to support visibility of work progress, pending actions, and overdue items.

    • Support regular follow-ups and reminders with IT and support teams to ensure timely ticket updates and resolutions.

    • Monitor dashboards and reports to highlight delays, aging tickets, or bottlenecks for review.

    • Assist in keeping process documentation, reference materials, and operational records up to date to support consistent service delivery.



 


JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES



  • Display strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when handling tickets, data, and records

  • Be initiative‑driven, proactive, and willing to learn, with the ability to identify issues and follow up appropriately

  • Be responsible, well‑organized, and systematic in managing assignments, tickets, and follow‑ups

  • Able to work within defined processes and follow instructions consistently in a service management environment

  • Be flexible and adaptable to change, with awareness of working across teams and cultures

  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team

  • Demonstrate basic awareness of information security and IT service management concepts, with the ability to read, interpret, and understand ticket details to provide appropriate operational support

  • Tech‑savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); exposure to ServiceNow or ticketing systems or service automations is an advantage but not required


 


LEARNING OUTCOMES


By the end of the internship, the intern will be able to:



  • Gain a foundational understanding of information security operations, IT service management, and enterprise support processes.

  • Learn how to read, interpret, and understand ticket information, operational records, and supporting documentation within ServiceNow or related tools.

  • Understand how service requests, operational tasks, and issue-tracking activities progress from assignment to closure.

  • Develop hands-on experience using ServiceNow, Jira, PowerBI or related platforms to track, update, and support service management activities.

  • Learn how operational teams monitor progress, manage priorities, and escalate issues using dashboards and reports.

  • Build practical skills in organizing, validating, and maintaining operational data to support accurate tracking and follow-ups.

  • Strengthen professional communication skills by supporting updates, reminders, and coordination across IT, security, and support teams.

  • Develop core workplace competencies such as attention to detail, time management, teamwork, and accountability in a security operations environment.


 


QUALIFICATION STANDARD


Education:

Undergraduate pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related disciplines preferred.

Students pursuing degrees in Business Administration or Operations Management, with a strong interest in IT service management or information security operations, will also be considered.



Requirements

Singaporean, Singapore Permanent Resident Holder or valid student pass / work holiday pass.

Prepared to commit to a six months’ internship
