Job Description - Commercial Performance Specialist

My client in Umhlanga is currently looking for a qualified persons for a Commercial Performance Specialist in the Commercial department, based at the Head Office. This position reports to the Commercial Performance Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for performing analyses and modelling of the overall macro environment and internal performance to inform strategy development.

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and shares models and/or tools for analytics in line with changing business needs, and continuously improves these
  • Supports in-country teams in embedding new metrics and models
  • Compiles and effectively communicates Commercial position, including revenue, volumes and pricing performance timeously and accurately by identifying and analysing the financial benefits of selling products into different markets across and provide feedback to Marketing, Logistics and Finance teams at the company and across the operating entities on a monthly basis
  • Carries out analysis of KPIs against relevant targets and/or estimates and produces recommendations to assist with execution of the Commercial strategy
  • Develops Commercial annual budgets and estimates with Commercial Leadership team and report on the outcome thereof
  • Develops and shares analysis of plans and key inputs provided during cycle planning.
  • Embeds and inputs into the design for the ways of working in the Commercial Finance Way, and provides in-country coaching, mentoring and guidance when needed
  • Supports the design and aids implementation of the Cost-to-Serve model within each market, adjusting the overall framework and guidelines as is needed
  • Supports system changes where needed and ensure that Commercial insight reporting and decision-making tools and/or applications are maintained or improved
  • Designs portfolio mix and estimates category growth rates, volume, share and price trends by tier
  • Makes recommendations for translating agreed strategy into category and portfolio pricing architecture and into price list prices and recommended selling prices
  • Supports group marketing and sales to provide insights on pricing promotional objectives, core tactics & pricing promotional budget/intensity per brand
  • Analyses and draw insights on comparative commercial data related to supply and demand, market pricing and preferences and duties and logistics
  • Performs financial modelling and supports business case motivations for proposed major Group commercial projects
  • Assists with idea generation and support projects from select phase to completion

Ideal Profile

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent financial qualification (preferred candidates hold SAICA membership)
  • Minimum Year's Experience:
  • Experience of 5 - 6 years in a corporate environment

Minimum Skills:

  • Financial modelling, revenue growth management, data analysis and advanced Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience of working in a range of Africa markets and working with teams within Africa would be preferrable •
  • Proven ability to work with different business divisions to bring about improvements in the sustainability and profitability of the wider business
  • High learning agility, with the ability to share learnings effectively with others
  • Demonstrated ability in delivering results and meeting business expectations
  • Ability to work effectively in a pressured, deadline driven environment
  • Proactive and independent, with high levels of initiative
  • Influencing skills, with the proven ability to effectively engage, and positively influence a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Professional, dedicated and a good team player
  • Strong skills in MS Office & relevant software packages (including MS projects and analytics tools)
  • Willingness to travel to all areas of operations within, and outside, South Africa
