Job Description - F&B Manager - * Hotel - Cape Town

F&B Manager, 5 Hotel & Spa, Cape Town*

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Salary: R25,000+

A prestigious 5-star luxury hotel in Cape Town is seeking a dynamic and experienced Food and Beverage Manager. This role involves leading and organizing the Food and Beverage Team to ensure the highest guest service levels while maintaining the financial success of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Service Excellence: Ensure constant floor presence during peak times, interact with guests and staff, and take personal responsibility for every situation, seeing it through to resolution.
  • Team Management: Conduct 1:1s and appraisals, nurture positive relationships with employees, train and develop team members, and apply performance management tools effectively.
  • Operational Management: Support outlet management in daily operations, develop and execute Food & Beverage concepts and events, ensure adequate resources and stock control, and manage operating costs within budgetary requirements.
  • Stock Management: Maintain beverage cost in line with budget, implement best practices to minimize wastage, manage cellar store and other stock areas, ensure proper stock control procedures, and oversee monthly stock takes.
  • Weekend Management: Act as Hotel Week-end Manager-on-Duty as needed, conduct inspections, support F&B outlets and Front Office, check VIP rooms, and submit thorough reports to the Executive team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Hotel or Food and Beverage Operations.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a 5* hotel or fine dining establishment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with stock management systems (FnBShop advantageous).
  • High regard for personal hygiene and presentation.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic math skills and experience in F&B administration, food ordering, and stock and cost control.
  • Proven ability to train and manage people and generate new revenue ideas.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Desirable Experience:

  • Diploma in Hotel or Food and Beverage Operations.
  • Food and Beverage management experience.
  • WSET Wine Level 2 or similar qualification.
  • Exposure to F’nBShop and Micros systems.
  • Fluency in Xhosa and/or Afrikaans.
