Half-day Financial Accountant

Job Description

A premium food products company is seeking a part-time Financial Accountant for a fixed term contract to be responsible for the full financial accounting function of the business. This is a part-time, flexible, hybrid opportunity and will suit someone who has an excellent grasp of Financial Accounting, and is a confident and highly capable self-starter.

Responsibilities:

• Input, processing and management of general ledger function
• Computation of VAT, tax, PAYE and submission to tax authorities
• Assist auditor with an audit review 
• Production, reconciliation and analysis of management accounts
• Reconciliation of loan accounts
• Stock count valuation report
• Fixed Asset Register and monthly depreciation
• Current asset management, including debtor’s collections
• Foreign currency revaluation
• Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled
• Preparing and managing of all financial audits
• Cash flow management
• Sales reports
• Monthly payroll processing, bi-annual filings and IRP5 EMP501 submissions.
• Managing incoming funds and CFC accounts for exports
• Accountability and administration of XERO, DEAR and SimplePay systems. (Financial, inventory and payroll systems)
• International company structure setup, VAT registration and Forex calculations
• Credit recon reviews and approval of supplier accounts
• Procurement review and approval of orders
• Maintain and build relationships with key suppliers
• Ensuring international tax compliance – Amazon, other sales and purchases
• Managing bank accounts and clearing funds (includes payment gateways and international bank accounts)
• Management of the financial aspects of Key Account Cost Accounting
• Direct reports: Accounting Assistant and Debtor's Controller

Requirements

• Financial/Accounting degree is required – CA(SA) advantageous
• At least 5 years' experience working at a senior level in finance (food manufacturing advantageous)
• Ability to provide financial information for strategic business decisions
• Ability to implement accounting standards and accepted business practices in financial reporting
• Ability to produce and deliver accessible and informative financial reports to tight deadlines
• Excellent Excel skills
• Knowledge of XERO, DEAR and SimplePay systems highly advantageous
