Job Description - IT Senior Specialist

  • The primary purpose of this role is to provide local expert back-end IT support, and IT systems integration responsibility linked closely with group requirements, coupled with local IT infrastructure maintenance and control.
  • The role will also involve Level 3 resolution of technical issues escalated by Service Desk, Level 1 or 2 IT resources.
  • IT Technical design and implementation of key IT infrastructure or business-driven projects.
  • Core Functional Knowledge/ Skills 

    • Solid Experience working with SAP, Syspro etc integration.
    • Strong Experience providing IT support to various positions.
    • Strong/Advanced experience in an IT support, systems implementation/integration, and control role.
    • Advanced knowledge of PC hardware, and Microsoft Windows 7 and 10 software.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
    • Experience troubleshooting computer network connectivity issues.
    • Familiarity with validated or quality systems is a plus.
    • Familiarity with system validation processes or quality system.
    • Experience working in a regulated industry such as animal health, medical device, pharmaceutical, biologics or food – advantages.

     

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Ensure consistent systems and networks availability across the Enterprise aligned with Group requirements.
    • Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of all local systems and networks with Group requirements in background.
    • Monitor and analyse performance of all local systems and networks and proactively remediate any risk to the IT operation.
    • Monitor the capacity of these systems, to determine its effect on performance and recommend enhancements to meet new or changing demands.
    • Identify and remedy system performance bottlenecks.
    • Ensure all systems and networks, and their management and maintenance procedures are fully documented, and peer presented.
    • Ensure all system changes, updates, new system integration are planned, monitored, and implemented in accordance with Group Change and Security Procedures.
    • Work with the local business supporting Group IT functions in the design and implementation of IT projects.
    • Support local business and Group initiatives by delivering projects to planned timelines and budgets.
    • Prioritise and respond to escalated service desk tickets and IT support service providers, ensuring that the ticket is kept updated at every step, in order that the business stakeholder is kept informed of the status of their ticket.
    • Documentation and knowledge transfer of all work completed on system updates, changes, and projects.
    • Management and maintenance of all site IT hardware.
    • Management and maintenance of the Local Area Network and its related equipment.
    • Maintaining Global IT Asset database for site assets
    • Communicate effectively with internal customers.
    • Perform the deployment of end-user computers according to a standard image.
    • Deploy software using PDQ or other automated tools.
    • Document all system/environment changes.
    • Monitor system activities.
    • Provide end-user training as required.

    Qualifications

    • MCSE certification
    • CCNA certification
    • Further IT or related field qualifications advantages

    Experience

    • Min. 10 years’ experience in a similar IT support role within established enterprise.
    • Min 3 years system integration experience
    • Expert knowledge of PC hardware, and Microsoft Windows 7 and 10 software.

     

    • Experience troubleshooting computer network connectivity issues.
    • Familiarity with validated or quality systems is a plus.
    • Knowledge of and interest in farming, agriculture or veterinary pharmaceuticals would be beneficial.

    Technical

    • Excellent working knowledge of and experience in general IT adaptation programmes.
    • Strong IT infrastructure background, covering Cloud, Virtualisation, server, database and networking technologies.

    Special Requirements

    • Valid driver’s license and own transport.
    • Required to sign an NDA and adhere to strict confidentiality requirements.
