Job Description - Professional Engineer

The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure has a career opportunity for an Engineer to perform all aspects of varied innovative and complex engineering design related to the improvement and maintenance of the provincial road network.

Minimum Requirements

Engineering Degree (B Eng/ BSC (Eng)) or relevant qualification; A minimum of 3 years post qualification engineering experience required; Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Civil Engineer; A valid code B or higher driving license.

Key Performance Areas

Design new systems to solve practical engineering challenges and improve efficiency and enhance safety: Plan, design, operate and maintain engineering projects; Develop cost effective solutions according to standards; Human capital development: Ensure training and development of technicians, technologists and candidate engineers to promote skills/knowledge transfer and adherence to sound engineering principles and code of practice; Office administration and budget planning: Manage resources and prepare and consolidate inputs for the facilitation of resource utilisation; Research and development: Continuous professional development to keep up with new technologies and procedures.

Remuneration

Grade A: R 833 499 - R 889 158 per annum; Grade B: R 939 024 - R 1 011 597 per annum; Grade C: R 1 068 342 - R 1 254 282 per annum (OSD as prescribed).

Note on remuneration: Cost-toemployer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation specific dispensations (OSD) are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th
cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or cofunded in terms of the applicable
prescripts or collective agreements.
