Job Description - Wedding Planner - * Hotel - Cape Town

Wedding Planner, 5 Hotel & Spa, Cape Town*

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Salary: R20,000 – R25,000 DOE

A prestigious 5-star luxury hotel in Cape Town is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Wedding Planner. This role involves liaising with clients to ascertain their requirements and coordinating and successfully executing weddings and events to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will ensure exceptional performance and service, creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their wedding/event requirements. Coordinate with various departments and suppliers to ensure seamless execution of events.
  • Event Planning and Execution: Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of weddings and events, ensuring they are executed flawlessly. Be present on the event day to coordinate setups, preparations, and oversee all aspects of the couple's and family's needs.
  • Maximize Revenue: Identify and maximize revenue-generating opportunities while enhancing guest service experiences in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the highest standards of performance and service in every aspect of wedding and event planning and execution.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain harmonious relationships with other departments, suppliers, and hotel management by ensuring clear and prompt communication between all parties.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and present financial and operational reports. Manage accounts accurately and update and maintain inquiry reports and conversion statistical reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma in Hotel, Food and Beverage, or Events Management
  • At least 2 years of wedding/banqueting reservations and operations experience in a 4* or 5* hotel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Sales and Catering systems
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret budgets and business reports
  • Highly presentable with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays

Advantageous Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous Food and Beverage operational experience
  • Proficiency in a third European language
  • Knowledge of Opera and Micros systems
  • Fluency in Xhosa and/or Afrikaans
