Cargo Assurance Specialist

Main Purpose:
The Cargo Assurance Specialist will be responsible for the overall process of loss/gain investigations, product degradation/remediation issues, Q&Q claims management, measurement and overseeing induction training for operations staff.

• Excellent understanding of Petroleum loss investigations for all modes of transport
• Technical and commercial knowledge
• Solid understanding of petroleum laboratory testing and test methods
• Background in chemistry (certified or practical, analytical) and marine experience desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• manage third party relationships globally
• mediate issues with independent inspection, additive and loss control companies. This will include annual rate negotiations, budget, cost tracking and reporting (including collaboration with GST - Goods and Services Tax - in the invoicing process).
• Working with internal stakeholders, such as DTT - Digital Transformation Team, to obtain and make best use of the extensive data sources through quality results, quantity, rates and market information.
• Develop and implement cargo assurance policies and procedures to optimize operational efficiency and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of cargo handling processes, facilities, and documentation to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, accounting and compliance, to address issues related to cargo security and documentation
• Investigate incidents, discrepancies, and customer complaints related to cargo handling and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence
• Provide training and support to operations employees
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to cargo assurance activities, including audit findings, inspection reports, and corrective actions taken
