Job Description - Head Hostess

Job Description:

As a Head Hostess, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the host/hostess team in a dining establishment or event venue. Your primary duties will include coordinating reservations, managing the seating process, and ensuring guests receive exceptional service from arrival to departure. You will also need to train, supervise, and schedule host/hostess staff, as well as handle any customer inquiries or issues that may arise. The ideal candidate for this role should have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for providing top-notch hospitality. Previous experience in a similar role and a deep understanding of restaurant operations are preferred. Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate host/hostess team to ensure smooth flow of service
  • Greet and seat guests in a timely and professional manner
  • Manage reservation system and update seating availability
  • Assist with overall restaurant operations and ensure guest satisfaction
  • Train and mentor host/hostess staff on customer service standards and procedures
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of host/hostess station and lobby area
  • Monitor dining room activity and manage guest waiting times
  • Collaborate with restaurant management on promotions, events, and special occasions
  • Ensure proper communication between front-of-house and back-of-house staff

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a hostess or similar customer-facing role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage reservations, seating arrangements, and guest requests efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service procedures to coordinate with the restaurant staff.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in hospitality or customer service are a plus.
