Job Description - Purchase Planner - Fashion

Job Description:

As a Purchase Planner - Fashion, you will play a crucial role in managing inventory levels and ensuring timely replenishment of stock to meet customer demand. Your responsibilities will include analyzing sales data, identifying trends, and forecasting future product requirements. You will work closely with vendors and suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules, in order to maximize profitability and minimize stockouts. In addition, you will collaborate with the merchandising team to develop assortment plans and make informed decisions on product selection and assortment allocation. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fashion and retail. A degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is typically required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize inventory levels and meet demand requirements in the fashion industry.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and materials.
  • Monitor market trends, assess supplier performance, and negotiate pricing to secure the best deals.
  • Analyze sales data and forecasts to adjust purchasing plans and manage stock levels effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as merchandising and production to align purchasing activities with business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels using relevant software systems.
  • Analyze and report on key performance indicators related to purchasing activities to support decision-making processes.
  • Manage communication and relationships with suppliers to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in purchasing and supply chain management.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and projects to streamline processes and enhance overall operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software for inventory management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with vendors and suppliers.
  • Prior experience in purchasing, planning, or inventory management in the fashion industry preferred.
