Job Description - Medical Receptionist / Administrator

Job description

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high level of service to patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of reception and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and dealing with patients both in person and on the telephone
  • General administration tasks (filing, scanning, post etc.)
  • Operating and maintaining the practice computerised appointment and records system
  • Recording and preparing requests for prescriptions
  • Provision of cover for other staff as required (including holidays and sickness)
  • Maintain confidentiality

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • GCSE in English and Mathematics (Grade A-C or equivalent)
  • Computer literate with experience with email and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in a GP Practice or other healthcare setting
  • Experience of EMIS Web clinical system
