About The Role

The Application Engineer acts as an automation consultant to Seegrid customers, and is responsible for determining requirements, product selection, and customer operational recommendations for potential Seegrid customers. An Application Engineer needs to have a systems-level technical understanding of Seegrid products as well as customer process flows in warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing. This position supports the Seegrid sales team by assessing customer sites and developing custom automation solutions using Seegrid technology. The role also includes assisting with customer presentations, and requires day-to-day interaction with sales, engineering, product development, external partners, and end customers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support sales staff with the determination of customer requirements and automated material handling solutions using Seegrid products
  • Communicate product systems designs and functionality to Seegrid and Customer stakeholders clearly and concisely by serving as the 'technical expert' during the sales cycle
  • Develop AutoCAD layout drawings of AMR travel routes, determine the best fitting product, and quantify fleet based on customer requirements
  • Prepare diagrams and simulations for cross-disciplinary communication of proposed systems
  • Determine external control requirements for proposed AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) systems
  • Travel to customer sites to study and gather information critical to the overall solution design.
  • Execute live product demonstrations both at Seegrid HQ as well as at customer facilities to facilitate deal progression.
  • Understand customer needs for future feature developments, generate requirements documents, and drive to completion among Application Engineering, Product Management and Hardware/Software Engineering teams
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to provide feedback on current products and input on new products
  • Define and document best practices for customer and internal work, and continuously improve them
  • Train other employees and partners and advocate for this process

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering (or similar field of study)
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite/Google Workspace along with demonstrated ability to leverage spreadsheet applications to analyze and interpret large data sets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be comfortable in making customer presentations
  • Solution minded
  • Excellent strategic and analytical thinking
  • Effective organizational and project management skills to meet deadlines while dealing with multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter who works well in high-pressure situations along with a proactive approach to drive process improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build effective relationships with all levels of the organization, customers, and partners
  • Able to travel 50+% of the time

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with PLCs is a plus
  • Experience in manufacturing or warehouse optimization is preferred
