Job Description - Campaign Organizer - Opportunity to Make a Difference

Who We Are:

The Outreach Team is a political consulting firm specializing in field organizing. We partner with good groups doing great things. 

General Overview:

The Campaign Organizer will hit the ground to develop grassroots and grasstops community relationships, recruit and train dozens of volunteers committed to defending reproductive freedoms, train leaders on the campaign, and show up for coalition and partner organizations throughout the process. This summer, the organizer will work with volunteer leaders to launch a summer training program dedicated to relational organizing before heading into the fall. Come August, the organizer and their volunteers will leverage their relationships and mobilize their community to launch a voter identification and Get Out The Vote operation through Election Day 2024. Finally, the organizer will debrief and re-activate everyone involved in the effort to tackle attacks on reproductive healthcare into the future.

What You’ll Do:

  • Recruit and Train a Community of Volunteer Activists
    • Identify new volunteers by gathering petitions
    • Run grassroots skills trainings to develop effective campaigners among volunteers
    • Keep meticulous track of a volunteer list so that no potential fighter falls through the cracks
    • Represent us in communities through participation in community spaces and events, while engaging and uplifting coalition and partner organizations.
  • Develop Volunteer Leaders for Long-Lasting Change
    • Pitch and train volunteers to take on leadership responsibilities
    • Recruit for and run a Summer Relational Organizing Institute, a program dedicated to recruiting more volunteers, mobilizing grassroots support, and deepening local conversations by focusing intensely on relational organizing.
  • Implement an Independent Voter Identification and Get Out the Vote operation
    • Recruit and train hundreds of canvassers and phonebankers for daily shifts
    • Nail 100% of all messaging and legal requirements and ensure that volunteers do the same
    • Organize and execute in-person or virtual events to support reproductive freedoms, including educational events, trainings, rallies, and more. 
  • Manage Digital Campaign, Data Management, and Reporting Tools
    • Demonstrate public support by recruiting volunteers to post on their own social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
    • Use peer-to-peer texting services and relational organizing tools to communicate with community members
    • Work with a digital campaigner to send timely and compelling email campaigns to recruit activists to campaign activities
    • Track every interaction with detailed notes in order to report numbers daily and write weekly reports on the results of the campaign

Nice-to-Haves, but Not Required:

  • Experience working for nonprofits, electoral campaigns, and/or other issue campaigns
  • Data Management and Evaluation Experience: Experience working with various data management systems and tools, mainly Google Suite. 
  • Experience with Relevant Campaign Tools and Technologies: Action Network, ThruText, MailChimp, eCRMs like EveryAction, or social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Event or Project Planning & Management, Implementation or Evaluation
  • Knowledge on reproductive and sexual health issues and prior campaign experience are both plusses, but are not requirements for this role. 

Salary, Benefits and Perks:

The salary for this position is $50,000-59,000 depending on experience. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement. We offer a generous benefits package, including:
