DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Sr. UX Designer to drive the definition and design of the Books/Kindle design language and partner with engineering on the implementation of a multi-device, cross-product design system. The design system provides the components used throughout Books’ web, mobile, and 1st-party-device experiences, provides tools for designers and developers, and documents the human interface guidelines for how to use the components. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of world-class multi-disciplinary designers to invent and deliver UX frameworks and features that align and extend the experience across all devices. You will champion a design system and invent and simplify a set of mechanisms, building blocks and tools that empower designers and engineers building the future experiences for Books/Kindle products. We are committed to providing a best-in-class experience for all customers, and this role will ensure our design system is accessible and inclusive from Day 1.

This role will solve complex, cutting-edge problems and get things done. A successful candidate has a passion for design systems, strong visual and interaction design senses, a customer-obsessed UX toolkit, and a history of applying them at scale. You'll use these skills to define, grow and refine our design system's foundations, components, and patterns, in addition to helping us expand to new customers, and technologies.

Key job responsibilities
- Identify, create, and optimize design foundations, reusable components, and high-level patterns for the Books Design System
- Deliver artifacts that raise the bar for visual and user experience design, whether you're working on wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity mockups, or prototypes.
- Partner with a multi-disciplinary product and engineering team to own the implementation of your work.
- Collaborate with designers, engineers and other stakeholders across teams and organizations to increase adoption and shape the future of our design system.
- Create and optimize the processes and tools available to our designer, developers, and other consumers to collaborate.
- Partner with our product and engineering teams to create a consistent cross device customer and user experience.
