Description
The HP Print Design organization is hiring an experienced information developer to write and manage UI text and user-assistance content for embedded systems and digital interfaces in HP enterprise printers.
The candidate selected for this role will have a Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication or a related discipline, mastery of written and spoken English, and experience working with software engineering teams to write content that delivers great user experiences while minimizing development and translation costs.
Responsibilities
- Write and manage UI copy and status/alert messages for HP printer control panels, applications, and web interfaces
- Oversee maintenance, updates, and release notifications of the centralized data set that holds these strings (in Excel)
- Consult with business leads, legal partners, developers, and designers on UI text requirements, making recommendations with consideration for size and layout, usability, support for multiple language, and maximizing content reuse for consistency and efficiency in development time and effort
- Provide leadership and expertise in the overall process and governance of managing the message specification, proactively working with partners to improve processes, compliance, and maintenance
- Respond to and resolve defects logged against the specification
- Additional copy writing and technical writing as needed
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication or related discipline and 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English
- Expert in Excel and experience working with software requirement and defect tracking tools
- Ability to work from design, marketing, and business requirements to drive UI string development work, keeping projects on track as priorities and schedule change
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience and knowledge in basic office productivity applications and technical writing tools
